Hi,
My name is Ali...I'm new to fruhead.com but I've been a fruvous fan since the early days of Bargainville.
I'm from Toronto, though I live in Boston now. I was at the first frucon, but February is an difficult time for me to travel to Toronto so I haven't been to any frucon's since.
This hiatus is wearing me thin and as much as I enjoy Dave and Jian's solo CDs, the whole really is so much more than the sum of its parts. I saw Jian perform live once, and I would like to see Dave, but I he doesn't seem to be coming here...I also saw Murray play bass for GBS and I'm hoping he'll be playing bass for them again when they're here in March.
Anyway, I love my old fruvous CDs and my Napster MP3s, but it's been so long since I've had any new fruvous to listen to. I would love to learn about trading CDs of live performances (I miss the hamilton and chicago concerts that used to be streamable on the web!). I don't actually have any cds or tapes of live performances, though...does that mean I can't get any? Any instructions or explanations of how to go about starting would be most useful.
Since I can't contribute tapes, but I would like to give something back to my fellow fruvous fans, I've taken the liberty of starting a fruvous meetup. (http://fruvous.meetup.com/). For those of you not familar with meetup, you can learn more about it at http://www.meetup.com/faq/. There are only 3 members right now, but I'm hoping that enough people will sign up over the next month to have at least one meetup take place in March (and hopefully one in Boston or Toronto!).
So that's me.
Ali
