Poll: Do you eat the skins of your baked potatoes? |
Discussion:
Do you eat the skins of your baked potatoes?
the only time i won't eat the skin is if the potato hasn't been scrubbed on the outside, and it's generally easy to tell. not cleaning the potato is sacrilige. -= george =-
yes potatoes, that's how you spell it.
The story wasn't about the president but then vice president Quayle. This is cool, the word Potato is of Haitian origin and originally referred to the sweet potato.

I don't even remember making this poll. :) Must be old. Anywho, I always eat the skin. Especially if it's baked so it's got a nice crispness to it. Often I'll actually make myself sick at a restaurant because I feel it would be silly just to get a doggy bag for the potato skin but I'm so full by the time I get to it. But I make myself eat it because I love it. :) that's why it's the first part of the baked potato I eat. :) i might not have room for the inside of the potato, but the skin is a priority. of course, restaurant baked potato skins are never as good as homemade, because they wrap the tatersin foil and they don't get that sweet crispness. so i tend not to worry about restaurant potato skins. for that matter, i tend not to order baked in restaurants for that reason. smashed is my default in restaurants. smashed with skins left on rocks. and now i bid y'all adieu for the next few days, as i have to go do some post-Christmas visitations.

Nice crispy skins (with each baking!), even with the real bacon and fresh garlic chive (Butter, Cheese, Congac, and lots of creamy potatoe flesh and sour cream to bind together in the food processor - I broke one of our immersion blenders try to integrate it all yesterday) it mixes up smooth and yet still gets a crispy browning to the stufifng during the earlier mentioned ever-so-important second baking!
And of course the side benefit of not having to fight to get all the 'toppings' in there like an ordinary baked spud! Mmmm...DrOOl....

Scrub the potato, pierce it all over with a fork, and roast for an hour at 400. YUM. Remove from oven, cut in half lengthwise, add butter, salt, and pepper. Enjoy. Oh, and cut in bites including flesh and skin - none of this eating guts first and skin last. I used to live on baked potatoes. Major yum.

the best thing to do is put the potato on a barbeque. That makes the skin perfect. I usually bake it in the oven or the microwave then finish it off on the grill.

Actually, non-potato-skin-eaters are the same as vegans. They don't know what they're doing.
