And for those of you wondering what happened to Ellis Paul, here's something that came out over his mailing list today:
"Thank you for the flood of support for Ellis as he recovers from a bout of pneumonia. Ellis has been healing up in Maine and is ready to continue playing shows this weekend. He is in good spirits and can't wait to start playing for you again." And, regarding the new CD with Ellis Paul and Vance Gilbert: The advance copies of the "Side of the Road" CD by Ellis and Vance Gilbert are being sent out to the press. The music is great. Ellis and Vance put together an amazing collection of songs. I can't wait for you to hear this CD. We are very excited about this release which will be during the first week of September. Advance orders will be taken on-line next month!" Hehe, I caught up with Vance near one of the food tents on Thurs or Fri AM, after hearing rumours that Ellis was not going to be at FRFF from Shell and crew via Russell Wolff (so totally High school, but anyways)... I asked him what was up and he said that it was true, then mumbled a snarky remark to which I responded with a suitably shocked expression. Apparently our beloved Ellis was ripping up old carpet in his basement sans particle mask, and thereby the bout of pneumonia was self-inflicted... but he was recovering well. Ah, the sympathy of good friends ;) Angie
Hmmmm, I got an attitude from Vance myself on Thursday afternoon. I asked him if he knew a mutual friend, to which he responded, "No."followed by, "What a horrible thing to do to a performer." He must have been in a very pissed off mood on Thursday. I kinda got that feeling during his performance critique, but I thought he was just trying to take it very seriously, especially after being upstaged by the PortaJohn cleaner. I'm glad I'm not the only one who got negative vibes from him.
All I know is he has an old creakety house that gets very cold. :) That could probably describe most of Maine, eh? You must first create an account to post.
