No New FHDC Homepages

Just curious. I don't have too many but i'd guess my fireworks picture might not be too relevant. :)

Are kitties on-topic??

I'm pretty certain he's referring to images that get hosted on FHDC but linked to offsite pages... therefore, if your fireworks and kitties are not linked to other pages but are simply there for other FHDCers to view, it would be okay.

Is this a good clarification or am I off a bit?

that's what i thought, too. which serves as a good reminder to me to move my wwdn avatar and monkeyfeet photo next time i'm near an ftp client. (a lack thereof is why they wound up here in the first place)

You guys are right, I should clarify. It's a fuzzy topic, so it's hard to draw a line, but the biggest point is that FHDC is not an image host for other sites. Profile photos should be just that - if they are obviously meant to be linked elsewhere, they shouldn't be there. Kitties and stuff are fine. And anyone who is actually reading this probably doesn't have much to worry about, it's the non-Fruheads who are just using the space to host images that piss me off :)

If it does get out of control, we can always allow linking only by valid sites via some rewrite rules in the httpd.conf file.� Yell if you want to give it a shot.

In the mean time, the extra bandwidth should at least delay the problem a good bit.� ;)

that's kind of what i was wondering, actually, if just some hotlinking protection could be set up.

A hotlinking banner that says "I'm not a Fruhead, I just steal from them"? ;) It'd be nice to be able to do that just for the people who really aren't fruheads, no? It could be something much nicer for those who actually hang out here.
