i still cry over that, too. a few years ago, they did a sketch where big bird was looking at his picture of mr. hooper and reminiscing and singing a little song. that made me cry, too.
i so wanna read carroll spinney's new book.
Me too...I've now heard two NPR interviews with him about it (local talk show and the national one this morning) and it's just really interesting stuff. And I adore Sesame Street.
I'm so glad they did what they did and addressed Mr. Hooper's death instead of replacing him or saying he went off to Florida or something. It's a sad memory of childhood but it *meant* something and stuck with us. Very hard to find children's programming that doesn't talk down the children or in a condesending way. Then again, there is Elmo's World. :p
Elmo is a blight upon the landscape of Sesame Street. Grr. I hate him so much.
