I totally agree. The only time that doesn't infuriate me is when it is obviously being used in a joking context, and nobody is actually snarking at anyone else, y'know? But yeah, someone saying they are biting their tongue is no different than actually saying what they want to say in the first place, except that it makes them appear snarky and superior (and not in the ACTUALLY superior way) and smug (I hate hate hate smug).
