Self indulgent tripe

..before X10 got evil, I got a transmitter from them. It doesn't use FM, I don't think, but it beams audio (and video if you want) across the ether.

Maybe somebody less evil has made a similar product.

Out of curiosity, is it the silly popup ads that make you say X10 is evil?

I think that was the turning point for me personally. I mean, even microsoft.com doesn't have popups. *shudder*

And remember that even if microsoft.com did serve popups, it's companies like X10 that demanded that advertisers provide these in the first place. In my book, that makes them worse.

Although one could claim that consumers, as a whole, should be intelligent enough to not “vote with their money” and support companies that indulge in such behavior. Oh wait, that's what the two of us are doing, eh? ;)

I think it's amazing how many geeks out there just despise this sort of stuff. It's a sign of the times... our holy wars, these days, are all about advertising. Pop-up ads, Flash banners, spam... I get more worked up about this than any military excursion.
