This week on DNTO! Saturday, February 22, 2003 >From 4-5 Ginette Benoit heads to West Edmonton Mall to find out just how all encompassing one mall can get... Les Sieminiuk tips us off to music by Jackie Leven. Jian Ghomeshi gives us his spin on the week in pop culture. National Pastime: Wicket wielding Canucks; Leafs make the grade; Spring thaw - baseball style. Ron Robinson tips us off to Nick Hornby's latest. And we've got more from Medeski, Martin & Wood live in concert. Plus we'll hear some tunes by Skydiggers, Danielle French and Ani DiFranco. Which makes sense, since Sook-Yin (DNTO's host) is on >play either this week or next week. Hopefully they'll put it up on the "DNTO on Demand" section of their site. It's a sampling of the week's broadcast. There's still time to catch the segment - I'm listening to DNTO on Radio One Edmonton. I think Radio One Vancouver will have the show an hour later still.
"Soul-sucking Customers" would be a *great* band name *g*
It was a tiny little segment, with Jian giving his "In-Play" and "Played-Out" lists. I'll listen to the tape and transcribe it if they don't put it up on DNTO's website. I do remember Sook-Yin deliberately mispronouncing Ghomeshi, and Jian making fun of her for being one of the "whities" who can't say his name. Which is funny, apparently, because she's Asian. It seems like they're pretty friendly. Towards the end, she thanks Jian for bringing up some points to think about. He says something like "you can always count on me for points," to which she replies "Yeah. You're very pointy." Hee. You must first create an account to post.
