Relative Numbers of Jews and Muslims

There was a discussion, I believe in a poll about the number of Jews and Muslims in the USA. It was said that there were more Muslims than Jews. I am looking at the February Issue of Scientific American and there is an article on Religion in America. According to it there are six million Jews, 1.9 million Muslims, 1.5 million Buddhists, and one million Hindus. That is according to a National Opiinion Research Center Survey from the year 2000. More Muslims than Jews in the US? Who the heck said that? I wouldn't think you'd need an article to disprove that one. It is fairly obvious. Especially considering that a lot of Jewish families have been here for some time and have grown while most Muslim families have come here in the last 25 years.
