Historic "Fr-spots"
I forgot to tell most of you, but Rod (my husband) was driving in Ontario a few weeks ago, and gave me a call on his cell phone (all the way to Vancouver) to tell me that he was standing on the corner of Thornhill and Wood!!
I thought it was way cool, and something only you other Fruheads would find awesome too!
So, have you had some awesome memories about "fru-places"? you can include stories about random "lad" sightings, or tales about what REALLY happens in the budgiedome!!!
heh..
ok, I just like stories! heh (and if you can fit NASCAR into the story somewhere, count yourself up 10,000 Frulie points.

ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..........
*drool*
I passed Thornhill Ave. in Little Neck, is that the same one?
Thats' the one. Jian Chinese restaurant is in the shopping center on the LIE service road.
In St. Louis, we have the headuarters of the Fru-Con Corporation, which is a construction company. That's where I got those FruCon pens and annoying calculators that I brought to (real) Frucon.
And it's frightening how desperately I wanted one and still do! :) I love crap like that.
I can send you a Fru-Con calculator.
It's the last one!

..so far, everyone's doing poorly on including NASCAR into their stories!
but because I'm a forgiving soul...
*smooch!*
~J~
Well thank god!
That just goes to show that there aren't that many redneck fruheads.
:D

heh...I noticed that!
hmm..I wonder if Rod and I are the only two Canadians who watch NASCAR?
last race of the season...on Sunday..

Hahahahaha.
...there's a pub called the iron horse :D okay, so it doesn't really count, but every time i go past it i think, 'wheeeeeeee! the iron horse!!' so there :P

Hahaha, I think that when I go past the Iron Horse Pub here in Edmonton. :)
On Bleeker street there is Murray's Cheese Shop, a double Fruvous reference. Not to mention Monty Python.
And Murray's Sturgeon Shop on Broadway around 90th. Quite piscoesque.

:P

~J~
· 22 years, 4 months ago
here, before you kick Gordon, have some fresh sturgeon..
mmm..nummy!
~J~
"are you going to eat those eyes?"
Caviar comes from a virgin sturgeon...
· 22 years, 4 months ago
I think that would make a killer song!
oO baby...you're my virgin sturgeon...Oo
~J~
It is a song. I was hoping someone (Gordon) would recognize it.
Oh no I don't. Now can I at least who you'd figure I'd know since you know I don't know lyrics. I have two totatlly different guesses. Tom Lehrer and Dan Bern.
when i drive to Ball State i drive over Foster's Creek and i always think of the Mur man
oh yeah?
Here in lovely Ohio, we have a town named Fostoria.
I think it's the mythical bassist utopia, but they won't let me in because I can't play.
· 22 years, 4 months ago
ahhh! Fostoria... it's a wonderful magical place!!
where bass players are on the beat, and don't often drool!
;)
hee hee!
~J~
Anyone gone skiing in Aspen?
well... of course, i make my own. i named my car murray. *teehee* im sure though, that's a whole other forum. im sure other people have named stuff after them too.

· 22 years, 4 months ago
I named my car maud. I have to say I've never named anything after the fru though.
i named my guinea pig after murray. wheeeeee! double fruvous reference!! go me! :D
I made buffalo wings for the Fruvous House Party. I went right to the source and ordered the sauce from the Anchor Bar (a live noise reference right there). There was some sort of problem with the order and I got a message on my answering machine saying I should call back and ask to speak to Jian.
It ended up the name was actually short for giancarlo but it was still very amusing. I of course pointed out the coincidence to him.
· 22 years, 4 months ago
Wow, cool story!
strange, but cool!
did the guy get the whole "Jian" thing when you pointed out the coincidence?
~J~
Yeah he did. He was a real nice guy too.
· 22 years, 4 months ago
well, what'dya know! :)
nice guys? in BARS?
wow..I'll have to think about this one for a bit! :D
~J~

what does ""Fr-spots&am
"
mean???
*is so confuzzled.*
it means there's a problem with the FHDC code. I'm guessing what happened when the thread was first entered was that the thread title included an umlauted u entered naturally - i.e. not an HTML code. FHDC tried to convert it, and it became the code represented by "ampersand uuml semicolon" (I'm afraid if I actually write it, my post will get messed up)
and then every time the title got reinterpreted, the ampersand was replaced with "ampersand amp semicolon," so there was always an ampersand that kept getting changed, extending the title more and more.
· 22 years, 4 months ago
oh! that's what happened when I put the quote symbol in the title line ..it didn't like it!
what I wrote was "historic fru-spots"
sorry for the confuddlement
~J~
· 22 years, 4 months ago
oh! maybe Lawrence was right.. I can't remember if I put the umlaut in there..but it's always given me trouble...
heh!
~J~
I don't think it's the umlaut. I didn't use the HTML form (I didn't know there was an HTML form) when I posted my folklore topic. I'm fairly sure it's the quotes...
