I always stay to the end of the credits. Sometimes you are rewarded with an Easter Egg like in H2G2, other times you just get to see all the credits and hear the end of the film score. Today I saw Star Wars Episode III. I walked into the wrong auditorium first and saw the closing credits from an earlier screening before I saw the rest of the film. I still felt guilty about leaving before the credits ended after I actually saw the film.

but when you stay for the credits, do you actually pay attention to them? i mean like take in the information. otherwise it's a pointless exercise, i guess. :D

I memorize it, and can then recite it all after leaving the theater.

I do, I don't pay attention to every credit, I don't really care about the animal wranglers and I even less about the honey pot driver, but there are credits I care about peppered throughout. They usually give the musical credits near the end and I always want to read those.

With a film like Star Wars I'd stay through the credits even if I were blind to hear the end of the score.

i always stay thru the music credits.

I always stay through the credits to watch for extra stuff and/or funny stuff in the credits themselves. And song credits near the end.

Isn't an easter egg more about finding tricks/hidden things in games/DVDs/etc?

Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
Yes but I extended the meaning to treats in the credits. As Humpty Dumpty said, "When I use a word it means exactly what I want it to eat, neither more nor less."

Eat??? :)

the post-credits stuff wouldn't qualify as an easter egg, as easter eggs technically relate to programming. post-credits stuff might be more accurately called bonus content. dvd's contain easter eggs when they directly relate to something coded into the dvd menu, vs. something that actually apears in/after the video/credits (aforementioned bonus content). not that any of this really matters, but i do believe some general curiousity to the literal definition was implied, no?

not to split hairs, or nothin'. :P in his defense, gordon DID disclaim his use of the term.

the credits for Lemony Snicket were fabulous! i stayed for them.

sometimes just to be obnoxious to the people i'm with (all in good fun) i'll stay through the credits and yell out the names of the minor people like the key grip or the animal trainer and be like "monica hazleton?! i love her work! oh my god it's john smith!"

You may get a lovely recipe for brownies.

...that gets me to stay. either a pop song or something that is really catchy, or a really moving or interesting orchestral.

My favorite closing credits segment is for Strange Brew, where Bob and Doug McKenzie comment on, well, Bob and Doug stuff and occasionally comment on the minor technical people, like pointing to a random name and saying, "He was beauty, eh?" or

Bob: "Doug, show them what a gaffer does."

Doug: loud hacking type nose

Classic!

I never used to stay for the credits, I started doing it when I'd be the -only- one to stand up at the end of the movie and embarrassingly realise that all my friends were actually paying attention to the credits. Peer pressure, what can I say?

It's worth it though, sometimes the music they play over the credits is the best in the movie.
nate... Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
See, it's the opposite for me.

I've ALWAYS wanted to stay for the credits... but friends get up to leave, and look at me like, "what the fuck? let's GO!" so I am pressured into leaving.
