Back in '93

   Discussion: Back in '93

I was just watching a show on MuchMoreMusic called "Back In...". For those of y'all not familiar with the show, they pick a year (this episode was '93) and do a summary of all of the big trends in movies, music, fashion etc. They also do a top 5 list for the best and the worst music videos of the year. The video for My Baby Loves a Bunch of Authors was voted the 5th worst video of 1993. According to the show, Moxy Fruvous was trying to "break into the mainstream" with this single, but "a song about books and a video set in a library won't get you into the mainstream when most people are listening to Pearl Jam". Classy, yes?

Aahh.. kinda like a take off on vh1's "i love the 80's"/etc shows.

I always find those fun.

*sigh* I thought they were trying to "break into the mainstream" with KOS. So what that most people were listening to Pearl Jam, If I had a Million Dollars did quite well for BNL about that time. It would suck if everybody tried to be Pearl Jam just because Pearl Jam was the hot rock act.
Apparently the time was not right (and still isn't) for alternative folk to be mainstream. Why? I don't know.
