Did anyone else immediately think of the Python "Cheese Shop" skit?
lawrence Back · 18 years, 10 months ago
No, I'm afraid we don't have that skit. It's not very popular round here.
Zach Back · 18 years, 10 months ago
Not very popular?! It's the single most popular skit in the world!
Talcott Back · 18 years, 10 months ago
*Sits in the corner and plays the bouzouki*
Misch Back · 18 years, 10 months ago
Shut off that bloody bouzouki!
Mamalissa! Back · 18 years, 10 months ago
Sorry, that skit's a bit runny.
Geoff Back · 18 years, 10 months ago
I actually went straight for Pinky's "Cheeses of the World" song.

In a biography I found online it says John Cleese's real name is Jack Cheese-that has to be a joke

I Love Cheese!

any, all, both, most, together, apart, alone, with some other food...

but most blue cheeses are made with wheat so that ones a no go now.
Phoenix · 18 years, 10 months ago
hmmm. Cheese.

I prefer raw milk cheese actually.
stealthlori · 18 years, 10 months ago
my current fave is wensleydale with cranberries.

i like goat cheese, sheep cheese, cow cheese ... i'd probably like camel cheese, but i've never had it.

it's funny, because i absolutely loathed cheese in any form when i was a child. and now i'll eat almost any sort, including pungent bleus.

i'm not fond of the rinds on brie and such, however. i've been told this makes me a philistine.
Mamalissa! Back · 18 years, 10 months ago

That's because you can't make cheese from camel milk. No, really. It's too acidic.

It's even reflected in Jewish law...

Camel is not kosher. While they chew their cud, camels don't have split hooves. They have, well, camel-toes. Therefore, camel milk is not kosher.

When purchasing milk, one must ask whether it is camel milk, lest one unwittingly purchase unkosher milk. However, when purchasing cheese, there is no need to ask whether it is camel cheese, as there is no such thing.

(I learned this all in a lecture about how camel milk would be the eventual solution to famine in sub-saharan Africa. They gave out samples of camel ice cream. Apparently that exists. I'm not sure whether it's scarier that the lecturer was so excited about camel milk, or that I remember so much about the subject.)
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 18 years, 10 months ago
An added obnoxious pedent note.

The one big difference between Jewish and Muslim dietary laws is that camels are allowed in islamic law. This is a practical neccessity since when a caravan gets caught in the desert the camels are often the only available food.
sheryls Back · 18 years, 10 months ago

rilly? they can't mix milk and meat?

i used to work with a Muslim and he wouldnt touch pork but cheeseburgers were okay.

I'm so boring.
sheryls Back · 18 years, 10 months ago

Cheddar is my favorite too! the sharper, the better!

although i am a HUGE fan of the Ackoui + Dates that AJ introduced me to :)

nate... Back · 18 years, 10 months ago

yeah, same here.....

Sharper the better!

sheryls Back · 18 years, 10 months ago
hell yeah! if it doesnt make my stomach cramp up, i'ts not sharp enough :D
Andrea Krause Back · 18 years, 10 months ago
I don't tend to like it sharp but I at least find that as I age I tolerate it further along the spectrum. Maybe when I'm a granny I'll be with y'all. :)
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 18 years, 10 months ago
yes! I always buy ultra sharp cheddar when it's on sale and it's so good!
Brian Dinsky · 18 years, 10 months ago

I prefer digital cheese, which may be found in the ancient arcade game Primal Rage. Digital Cheese is processed by doing the same thing over and over, be it one move, or a series of moves. Cheesing hurts, ladies and gentlemen. It hurts a lot like getting bit by a poodle, regardless of how cute they are, what with their tiny black poodle lips. Cheese can also be found in any other fighting game, but stricly as a spoken term. Primal Rage seems to be the only game featuring an on-screen display of one's obvious lack of hand-to-eye talent.

Did I mention poodles have tiny black poodle lips?

Brian Dinsky Back · 18 years, 10 months ago

Also, Cheese Cloth. I used to eat that, but then I stopped. I hear you aren't supposed to. Add that to the list of things I am not supposed to do, yet I do anyways.

Poodle lips, anyone?

Paul · 18 years, 10 months ago
Most cheeses are better after they have warmed to room temperature-swiss is my favorite
Paul Back · 18 years, 10 months ago
although asiago is pretty good as well-at room temp it qualifies as a stinky cheese
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 18 years, 10 months ago
mmmmm...asiago is so good!
ChrisChin is Getting Old · 18 years, 10 months ago
I love so many different types of cheeses! Give me some good sharp cheddar, brie, edam, gouda, muenster, provolone, asiago, pepper jack, etc., etc., the list goes on and I'm a happy person.

Though I did vote for mozarella. For me, nothing beats having fresh slices on mozarella on sandwiches.
sheryls Back · 18 years, 10 months ago

omg, pepperjack.

i could eat BLOCKS of it. BLOCKS.

Paul Back · 18 years, 10 months ago

fresh mozzarella topped with a tomato and fresh basil from the garden, maybe even a little olive oil on top- an italians wet dream!

stealthlori Back · 18 years, 10 months ago
now see, if you put that on some lightly toasted italian bread rubbed with a garlic clove, that's what i call bruschetta. it doesn't have to be any more complicated than that.

(technically you don't even need the mozz in my book, but, hi. the thread is about cheese. :D )

on a completely different topic, not sure if we ever adequately thanked you for the coffee donation at frff. good stuff. i was surprised at how much i *liked* the blueberry -- i wasn't sure about it at first, but it was nice and light. *pours you the first cup next year*
Paul Back · 18 years, 10 months ago

mmm garlic bruschetta, last nite I had eggplant sauteed in olive oil with onions, garlic and jalapeno pepper-is that overkill??(jalapeno peppers are not that spicy if you take the seeds out.)

Thanks! I was happy to make a small contribution to the budgie dome. Glad you enjoyed it.

Though it was my first real visit to the budgiedome everyone was very nice andmade me feel quite welcome.

Shelly · 18 years, 10 months ago
this poll reminds me of our 'fromage a trois' fun at FRFF

everything just comes back to FRFF, doesn't it??

also reminds me of our old-skool 'cheese on a stick WITH CHEESE' , a melinda/anita joke from years ago....

o/' mem'ries.... o/'
