What did you do on your first date?

Discussion: What did you do on your first date?

I took her to a folk festival. I guess I haven't changed much. I'm way to embarressed to tell you how old I was.

I really don't know when my first date was. I never really dated.

Up until now, I was mostly that girl who's kinda cute so I'll call her my girlfriend so I can make out with her and stuff.

And a long-distance relationship isn't exactly dating, either. A week here, a couple of two weeks there, and then I'm living here. Not complaining at all... but I've never dated. Not really.

I never really dated.

Me either. I'd call my first date the prom in 9th grade (our school was small enough that it wasn't worth it to restrict the prom to just the seniors, or even the seniors and juniors, so it ended up just being a fancier 9-12 dance)... she asked me, I think in large part 'cause she knew I had a crush on her, and her boyfriend was in 8th grade, so he couldn't go. She left before the after-prom party started, presumably to go to his house, I don't know. I don't think I had another real date until my freshman year in college.

I think we were around the same age.

The first date where we actually went somewhere rather than just hanging out and making out on each other's couches was when we went to see Dances With Wolves. And he spent the entire film explaining what had just happened on the screen-- apparently I had suddenly gone blind, deaf, or slightly retarded.

A movie...which his mom drove us to and my dad picked us up. Rather mortifying...

But not as mortiflying as the fact that the movie was Driving Miss Daisy as our folks though that Pretty Woman was too racy..

I can beat that - same format, but the movie was "Crossing Delancy."

Also a movie. Met him there after my piano lesson. I got out of the car and suddenly realized that I didn't want to be on the date. It wasn't fun. We saw Heartbreakers which I guess was a plus.

I was taken to pizza at a hospital cafeteria. After that we went for a drive and he took me home.

My first date was junior prom . . . with a guy who I had never met . . .who flew out from California just to go to the prom with me. It was pretty crazy. I met him over the phone through my friend at Caltech. he had never been to prom (because he went to college at age 15) so he came to mine. :)

Dinner at an italian restaurant, which was nice, although messy. And then we were placed next to a birthday party of little siblings of people I knew. It was remarkably uncomfortable.

I've never had a guy pick me up for a date. I'm not sure if I've been on what I would consider a date, as in being asked out by the guy and him actually making the arrangements and all that. I've never gotten flowers either.

I think there's a difference between grabbing a bite to eat, and going out on a date. I'm not entirely sure what the difference is, but I think it involves male planning and being picked up.

Maybe my definition is too strict. *sigh*

hmm. then most of the "dates" i go on with teh boy aren't actually "dates," because i tend to do most of the planning. and i own the car. :)

Went to see The Man In the Iron Mask. Turned out this guy was from France. He kept pointing out all the historical and geographical inaccruacies. Speaking of pedants...

I've never really been on a date. I've dated people, but they were good friends before we got together so we had already hung out and gone places before.

Dating scares me. People I don't know well scare me too.

I haven't had many real dates in my life but I guess my first was really one. I was 12 and he was 13 and we went to the movies. His dad took us there and back. We went to see The Abyss. I remember being all uncomfortable during the CPR scene at the end where they had the woman's shirt open to zap her. Her boobs were out. And I was all freaking out inside not because I don't usually see boobs (My dad always let me watch R movies) but I was all like "oh man...boobs...I'm with a boy and there are boobs...I wonder if he's thinking of boobs now...i hope he isn't getting excited about the boobs...i hope he isn't thinking about my boobs" etc. :) I couldn't wait for that scene to be over.

heee!
cute.

:)

The boobs in the film were irrelevant. To paraphrase Xander.
He's 13, looking at linoleum makes him think about boobs.

we went to a student musical production at the Catholic high school next door to our (public) high school. Sound of Music, as I recall.

< stereotype >So the first guy you went on a date with was gay?
< /stereotype >
stealthlori Back · 19 years, 7 months ago
yes, in fact he was.

*sigh*

didn't stop him from being great at kissing girls, though.

My first "real" date was my senior prom, mostly b/c I had a sarcastic attitude the size of the US, and the only boy who knew what was inside was my best friend (who got REALLY hot our sr yr)... and I was on the verge of getting fairly attractive too... As in I got something resembling a chest and looked slightly less boyish and skeletal. Ugh.

Now I'm in NYU... I've dated around. Finding willing males? Easy. Finding worthwhile ones? Gahgghhhh...

Why aren't there any sexy, dorky engineers around here??! Gosh-darn pseudo Bohemian quasi intellectual overly extroverted loser punks.... *walks off ranting, grumbling, and shaking fist.*

my first date we went to a small art museum & walked around holding onto each other. it was totally dreamy. my second date (same guy) we went to a playground.

those dates were so successful that my third & fourth dates (different guy, different country) were also at a playground & an art museum, respectively.

On my first date, we went to see American Pie. On the phone, we were looking at the movie listings and saying, "Haha, that would be the worst first-date movie ever!" and then none of the other movies looked interesting at all.
