That's all.
Starfox · 19 years, 6 months ago
Redhat 6.2 on one box.
Windows XP Home on the laptop.
Windows XP Pro on the wintendo box.
SuSE Linux on the God box.
And Window 2000 on the work laptop.

Mac OSX on my laptop, Windows XP Home on my desktop, Redhat 9 on my web server, Redhat 8 on my work computer, Windows 2000 on my other work computer.

Of course, I suppose the real answer would be to the question "What OS are you using right now?" in which case I'd unfortunately have to answer Windows XP.

I suppose the real answer would be to the question "What OS are you using right now?"

Or mebbe "What OS aren't you using?" :)

Windows XP on the desktop, Windows 2000 on my school-issued notebook. I have a Dell-issued XP CD that I'd install on the notebook, if I didn't need all the programs that were imaged onto the notebook by the school.

so does that make me a nerd by association?

This computer (Pratchett) runs FreeBSD. My poor little computer (Puta Sucia) who's not on the network runs Windows ME. The other box (Fnord) runs Windows 98.
sheryls · 19 years, 6 months ago
@ home i have XP Media Center Edition, which is somewhat nifty :P
lawrence · 19 years, 6 months ago

Real men don't need point and click operating systems.

OK, I'm lying.

I did have friends who felt that way when Windows and Apple first came out.
iPauley Back · 19 years, 6 months ago
My friend Andy just installed that the other night, to dual-boot with his existing OEM XP install. He seems to like it; says it's teh wicked fast.

Hmm. In the TARDIS we still use the ol' buttons and levers system.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 6 months ago
and if something doesn't work you don't reboot, you cajole it. If that doesn't work you just smack it.
Starfox Back · 19 years, 6 months ago
I still prefer a command line to a GUI, but there are alot of things that a GUI is nice for, I just get hacked off at the laziness that goes into designing and implementing most GUIs.
sheryls Back · 19 years, 6 months ago

we dont have it hooked up to the cable tho :P basically, we got the dell 8400 MCE because it had all the hardware we wanted at a decent price. the only other ones as decked were far more expensive :P the XPMCE we didn't choose, but i dont mind it so much.

we installed doom III, roller coaster tycoon IIIand warcraft III (we're obsessed with trilogies aparantly) and we only have 218GB left! *sob* :P

sheryls Back · 19 years, 6 months ago

when i got my firstcomputer (that was actually mine, and not the 1985 TANDY family pcwe had with DESKMATE! omg deskmate)i actively resisted windows for dos. :P i didnt have a gui os until probably 1997 :P all i cared was that QModem Pro, Doom and Duke Nukem ran fine :P

Mamalissa! Back · 19 years, 6 months ago
The guy who wrote Duke Nukem lived in the same house as me my senior year of college. Extremely weird. The one time we exchanged more than two words was when I was locked out of the house and knew he was in there, and had to scream up to his window to come down and let me in. I'm actually not sure he even said anything then.

(edit) this guy
sheryls Back · 19 years, 6 months ago

Windows XP-Pro on my home machine and laptop, Linux is on my server at home. The broadband router I have runs linux as well. Work is a windoze shop, though I can get a Linux box if I want to. (But I can't put it on the network)
