Insult or term of endearment

Discussion: Insult or term of endearment
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 19 years, 9 months ago
I've been called a stalker by DVN and a creepy old man by quite a few people. I've been assured that these are meant as terms of endearment. Make me feel better. Have you been called something affectionately that on the surface was an insult?

Freak. Dork.

in college i was known as one-half of the "Silly Twins".

Oh yeah tons. :) My friends and I all call each other "ho", "bitch" and stuff like that totally as terms of endearment. I have this weird thing where I'm only mean to the people I like a ton. I think it's a comfort level...we are confident enough in our friendships to know that the others are kidding around. When I'm not comfortable with someone or heaven forbid don't like them, I'll be nothing but nice and polite. :)

It's a pretty good bet if I'm calling you something mean to your face that I like you a whoooole lot. I know that's twisted.

Sounds like FOX Sports' Chris Myers, "We kid because we care..." :-P

Yeah...add "slut" and "whore" to that and you got me and my friends.
Andrea Krause Back · 19 years, 9 months ago

Oh yeah we use those too. :)

I think many Fruheads can relate to that one.

But geek is not only a term of endearment... it's a compliment.

It's a good thing. Otherwise you'd be late for all your appointments.

I get a lot of "you are so -not- normal.". And a group of my friends call me Geekor.

Considering that you have an accordion as your icon that's not surprising :-)

Peter Schickele said; "You don't have to be a nerd to play the accordion, but it helps."

PS. I played the accordion

People have called me "big guy" a lot in the past, especially when I was bigger. They say it with a smile and it sounds friendly, but it also sounds like a euphamism for, "Hey fat guy."
Andrea Krause Back · 19 years, 9 months ago

Weird...I would never consider you fat/big...

Songbill Back · 19 years, 9 months ago
Well, I used to be bigger.
Andrea Krause Back · 19 years, 9 months ago
I still can't imagine you qualifying. All I think of you as is cute!
