Here's the official companion forum topic to the 2003 Best Album Poll. Chat away! Thanks to Gordon for the idea for this.

Wow that was fast. I thought it would take you time to set this up.

I don't even think it's a contest. :)

I love them sooooo much! I saw them in concert for the first time at the Troc and they just ROCKED! :)

I didn't buy a single memorable CD all year. At least, not that was actually released this year.

I don't think, anyway... *shrugs*

Hmm...looks like I need to finally give this Eddie From Ohio a listen. Nonetheless, I still say BNL. And if that doesn't work, I'll say...BNL...again.

I'm surprised this one is at the top of anyone's list. Now, I'm a huge fan... Iran out and got the speicial CD with DVD and just saw their peep show tour but I can't say I was impressed by the album. My boyfriend even went so far as to say that "You can always get it right next time" was refering to them and their next album...

...and thank god these up-and-coming starlets have been nominated for a grammy for Best New Artist! maybe now they'll stick around, and prove themselves over that other, crappy, *old* fountains of wayne. man.

[eight years, folks. their self-titled debutcame out almost eight years ago. sheeeesh.]

It took me until THIS WEEK, but I found the best album of 2003.

Michael Franti's Songs from the Front Porch.

Just. OMGLIEKWOW.

I messed this vote up. I though the best album was going to be calculated by the average vote number, not by the more straighforward and simpler way of number of votes cast. So I voted for two accidentally. Yikes! Sorry. Just take off my vote for BNL, 'cause I certainly don't want my vote to go towards that album.

Here's a list of Albums released this year that were played on FUV, it might help to jog your memory.

2003 Releases

I'll post the winners of the FUV poll later today.

Actually, you're right and wrong. The original way the sorting worked was by number of votes, until I saw Toby Keith's monstrosity creeping up the charts because a couple of us had given it 0/10s. The formula now uses a weighted vote sum. In other words, an album with 10 votes averaging 5.0 will be ranked lower than an album with only 9 votes, but an average rating of 8.0. A low vote for an album with hurt it, not help.

please just post a link to the fuv winners if the list is going to be long.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
that's what I meant to do, just like I posted the list of all albums. It is only 20 albums long but still, it is easier to have a link.
